In-depth Explanations

Pittsburgh Website Marketing was created to draw together all the tools you need to market your website efficiently.

SEO

SEO (search engine optimization) is a marketing tool used to improve where your website appears in search engine results. SEO is often referred to as “Organic SEO” to set it apart from PPC (pay per click) advertising. The difference between SEO and PPC is that SEO raises the ranking of your website in the main results section, where PPC places your website in the “Sponsored Results” or “Featured Results” section. SEO leads to a more gradual rise through search rankings, but it also has a more gradual decline if SEO services are discontinued. The favorable position gained from PPC, on the other hand, disappears immediately after the PPC plan is discontinued.

Learn SEO

Through the free video tutorials and free monthly meetings you can teach yourself SEO. These resources involve a wealth of information regarding accepted “white hat” techniques and current developments in the SEO world. White hat techniques are in contract to “black hat” techniques, which are unapproved and are not recommended SEO techniques. Black hat techniques can yield results in a short amount of time, but in an equally short amount of time search engines can blacklist your site, removing it from rankings completely. Much like PPC, black hat can generate quick results, but it is a poor development plan.

Online Business Directories

Online business directories offer a location for businesses to post their information so customers can find them. Since these directories are search engine optimized, it helps companies get located through search engines as well. The traffic that comes from joining online business directories is less than the traffic that is possible with SEO, but it is a great place to get started.

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is the process of using popular social media venues (e.g. Twitter, Facebook) to pass along your brand image and company information. This is a great from a PR standpoint because it puts you in touch with your current and potential customers and makes them feel connected to your brand. Social media is also a great way to communicate with concerned or disappointed customers. With so much communicating and connecting happening on the internet, why shouldn’t your company to be in the mix?
